In my opinion, both types of spending spare time have their advantages. For instance, spending time outside can be more exciting and interesting, as well as healthy. As for staying at home, it may allow a person to relax more and recover his strength after a long busy day. Of course, the ways of spending spare time have disadvantages too. For example, doing sports can cause fatigue and tiredness. Staying at home is much less healthy than cycling.

Personally, if I had a day off, I’d rather spend it outdoors, preferably in the countryside enjoying the nature, provided the weather is fine. I believe that nowadays people spend too much time in front of computer screens and they should use any opportunity in order to spend more time away from gadgets and appreciate the beauty of the world around them.

In my opinion, both ways of spending time as a group have their advantages. For instance, competing with one another can be more involving and interesting. As for watching TV, it is more peaceful and it does't require any special qualities. Of course, the ways of spending spare time have disadvantages too. For example, active pastimes can cause unwanted arguing. At the same time, spending time in front of TV may not be enough exciting.

As for me, I would not prefer to compete with anyone in my spare time. Usually, my friends and I go to the cinema at weekends and honestly speaking, I love watching films and eating popcorn together.

In my opinion, completing schoolwork and working for an employer have their advantages. For instance, completing their school homework helps schoolchildren be well-⁠educated, while working in an office, for example, is much more profitable. Of course, the types of working have disadvantages too. As for schoolchildren, they can feel in vain as no clear reward is given for doing their homework. However, working for an employer usually doesn't lead to personal development.

As for me I prefer doing homework to receive new knowledge and become more and more educated. And after the graduation I'll start working like the rest of the people.

Moreover, ice climbing is much more dangerous and physically demanding than skydiving.

In my opinion, these two kinds of extreme sports have their advantages. For instance, group skydiving can be much more exciting in the process of doing it, at the same time ice climbing is a bit slower and less shocking in a given moment. Of course, the kinds of extreme sports have disadvantages too. For example, some people may not be able to fly in the sky because of their fear of heights, as for ice climbing, it is more tiresome and dangerous.

As for me, I’d prefer trying skydiving. Honestly speaking, it is my dream even though I’m terrified of heights. Also, I love the idea of seeing cities and villages from a bird’s-⁠eye view.

In my opinion, keeping a cat and a dog as a pet has some advantages. For instance, having a dog is similar to being in a friendship with a person. The dog will help somebody out and will treat as it's best friend. Cats usually prefer sleeping to playing as they are animals leading night lifestyle, so that they are much more independent from their owners. Of course, keeping these pets has disadvantages too. For example, a dog will expect the same a lot of care given to it from a person. As for a cat, its mood is usually unpredictable, and it is much more difficult to train a cat.

As for me, I can say that I’m a typical cat person. I like the way they walk, eat, purr, act themselves in general. I think that cats are much more elegant than dogs. That's why I would like to have a cat as a pet.

At the same time, playing outside is usually more exciting. Of course, the places where people spend spare time have disadvantages too. As for indoor activities, they are much less engaging and can become boring quite quickly, as not much is going to happen in a limited space. Meanwile, playing outside requires quite a bit of preparation before the start in order all necessary is done or taken.

Personally, I'd prefer to play indoors as I am not particularly physically fit for playing an active outdoors game. Moreover, I don't enjoy the cold and rainy weather that is usual for my hometown.

At the same time, the fumes that motrcycles emit can be breathed in by the riders, which is not great for their lungs.

As for me, I prefer bicycles because it’s an ecologically friendly type of transport. And when I ride my bicycle, I am doing sport and improving my physical condition. Moreover, motorbikes are too loud for me. And they are too brutal as well.

As for being a volunteer, it requires much more time from a person, for examples, there are special courses and even exams. At the same time, helping people occasionally doesn’t give the opportunity to develop one’s skills like a volunteer organization does.

As for me, I’d like to be a volunteer, because I think that people should care about each other, no matter if they know each other or not. And being a part of voluntary movement provides opportunities to try myself in different fields.

For example, cold weather requires to put warm clothes on to go out. Meanwhile, cooling down in hot weather is quite difficult as well as it may cause heart diseases.

As for me, I prefer living in a hot climate, as I love summer, the sun, hot weather and holidays by the sea. There are various fun activities in winter as well, such as downhill skiing, but nevertheless I’d rather spend time on the beach.

The most striking one is that in the first picture the adolescents are sitting calmly and thinking, whereas the sportsmen in the second picture are really active and violent trying to punch each other with their gloved fists.

In my opinion, both kinds of sports have their advantages. For example, playing chess helps people develop their logical skills. At the same time, boxing provides the opportunity to get rid of stress. Of course, the kinds of sports have disadvantages too. It seems to me that one chess match can take hours, so that it requires a lot of patience. As for boxing, it is a dangerous sport and people can get seriously injured.

Personally, I would take up an intellectual sport because I am not into violence or fighting. Besides, I would definitely not like to be traumatized.

For example, the first picture depicts an individual work, the girl is preparing for exams alone, maybe she is attending some online courses, whereas the second picture shows a group work, four students are preparing for exams together.

In my opinion, both ways of preparing for exams have their advantages. For instance, a student working alone can concentrate on studying and work at his own pace. At the same time, co-⁠working provides the opportunity to share ideas and discuss various strategies. Of course, the ways of preparing for exams have disadvantages too. For example, an individual work can not enable students to ask for help if a problem seems to be too difficult. Meanwhile, working in a group can be awkward as everybody is chatting.

Personally, I prefer preparing for exams in my friends’ company as we can analyze, discuss and solve problems together. It helps me very much.

Perhaps, they are playing jazz music, which is well seen by the instrument they are using. In the second one there is a little boy playing the piano. He might be having a musical exam in a school, as he is very focused. There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. Obviously, in the picture on the left there is the audience, on the right  — only the musician. The first one shows us some professional musicians, and a boy is a musical school’s student, I suppose. Also, the left one tells us about some musical festival (this information is given on the billboard at the top of the picture).

In my opinion, both types of concerts have their advantages. For instance, the atmosphere in a jazz music concert is usually pleasant and relaxed. As for the classical music concerts, the atmosphere is generally calm there. Of course, two types of concerts have disadvantages too. For example, it may be noisy in a jazz music concert as somebody sings or dances. Meanwhile, a few people really like and understand classical music as it may be boring in the concert.

As for me, I prefer the jazz music concert, because I used to be a member of a school music band and I remember how exciting it was to play on a stage, because I felt other musicians near me.

He’s wearing a suit and holding an expensive lap top. He definitely looks very successful. I think he has a well-⁠paid job.

There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. Obviously, the first picture presented the kind of job which doesn’t require any special skills so it may be a part-⁠time gob. However, the second one depicts well-⁠qualified job demanding knowledge and practice.

In my opinion, the two kinds of jobs have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, working in a food court may be fun and relax. However, the salary is too low. As for the office worker, this kind of job is usually well-⁠paid, but it may be boring to work with papers.

As for me, I’ve never wanted to work in the fast food restaurant. I think that working as a staff is really tough. I prefer having a good and well-⁠paid job, that is why I’m going to the University after school.

Meanwhile, choosing a career at an older ager usually is a more balanced choice. Of course, choosing a career at a younger age and at an older age have disadvantages too. For example, children are to immature to make such a serious choice, in general they do not understand the real situation. At the same time, a person choosing a career at an older age risks losing time while thinking.

As for me, I would prefer to choose my career at a younger age. I think the sooner the better. It can provide the opportunity to study necessary subjects and get useful experience.

In my opinion, the both types of clubs have their advantages. For example, playing chess after school helps children develop their logical skills. At the same time, playing sports games provides the opportunity to get rid of stress. Of course, the two types of clubs have disadvantages too. It seems to me intellectual activities require a lot of patience, not everyone can do it. As for doing sports, it is rather dangerous and people can get seriously injured.

Personally, I would prefer to join an intellectual club because I like thinking and playing board games. Besides, I would definitely not like to do sports.

Meanwhile, there are other passengers in an airplane or a train and they are not always pleasant.

As for me, I would prefer trains, because firstly it’s more ecological type of transport. Secondly, trains are usually much more comfortable transport to travel on a long distance.

In my opinion, both ways of keeping young for elderly people have their advantages. For instance, improving intellectual skills can help elderly people avoid mental diseases. As for playing active games, it helps elderly people improve health condition as well as relieve stress. Of course, the ways of keeping young for elderly people have disadvantages too. For example, improving intellectual skills in front of the computer is harmful for eyesight. At the same time, playing active games can be rather dangerous and elderly people can get seriously injured.

As for me, I would prefer doing sports to keep young as playing sports games like tennis or volleyball could help improve my physical condition as well as mental health.

For example, having meal alone can be boring especially if it is dinner, the time when people usually share their feeling about the day. Meanwhile, having meals together requires lots of preparations, such as doing shopping, cooking, serving and doing the washing up after all.

Of course, the both ways of helping the environment have disadvantages too. As for helping the local area, it doesn’t give the opportunity to develop one’s skills like an organization does. At the same time, being a member of an organization requires much more time from a person, for examples, there are lots of events which must be held.

For example, a lot of cities are overcrowded now as a result, ecological problems and problems with transportation are not the positive things when it comes to living in a city. At the same time, in general there are no good universities or hospitals in the countryside.

As for me, I’d prefer playing football, because it’s a team game. And it is much more famous. Millions of people all around the world love to spend their time watching football matches and I’m one of them. I’m a big football fan. Moreover, sometimes my friends and I play football in the school yard during the breaks.

In my opinion, both types of films have their advantages. For instance, watching a comedy helps people relax after a busy day. As for watching horror films, people can experience new emotions, like fear and anxiety, and test themselves without actually endangering. Of course, the two types of films have disadvantages too. For example, comedies have very simple and predictable plot in general, and that makes them boring. Meanwhile, horror films can make people really frightened and even cause sleeplessness.

As for me, I’d prefer to watch comedies. I really love the relaxing atmosphere of this type of films and I adore smiling and laughing, especially with my friends.

In my opinion, both types of classical music performances have their advantages. For instance, listening to classical music in a concert hall helps people feel the music better. As for listening to street concert, the atmosphere is rather friendly and the architecture complete the music very well. Of course, the two types of classical music performances have disadvantages too. For example, visiting classical music concert requires being dressed properly. Meanwhile, street concert depends on the weather conditions very much. If it is rainy, windy or snowy, musicians can’t paly.

As for me, I’d prefer to listen to classical music performance in concert hall. I really like the luxurious atmosphere in a concert hall. Also, I prefer to listen to classical music in silence, not in the street.

For example, a guide service may be rather expensive. Meanwhile, visiting a museum by your own can be complicated due to the queues.

In my opinion, the two kinds of jobs have their advantages. For instance, working work at a construction site is nine to five job, so you can easily plan your day. As for the doctors, this kind of job is usually well-⁠paid. Of course, the two kinds of jobs have their disadvantages as well. For instance, builder’s salary is too low. Meanwhile, surgery is very stressful work field.

As for me, I’ve never wanted to work as a builder. I think, it is really tough. I prefer having a good and well-⁠paid job, that is why I’d prefer being a doctor.

Of course, the two types of volunteering have their disadvantages as well. For instance, eco-volunteering depends on weather conditions and season. When the weather is bad or it’s cold collecting rubbish is not very pleasant activity. Meanwhile, homeless animals can be aggressive.

As for me, I’m allergic to dogs that is why I can’t help animals in a shelter. I prefer helping the environment as I consider it very important for our future. Moreover, I like living in the clean area.

In the first photo, there are two girls sitting on a couch, laughing and playing video games. There are chips and cola on the table in front of them. In the second photo, three girls are riding bikes on a sunny day, surrounded by trees. They look really happy.

The two photos show different kinds of weekend activities. The first one is about staying inside and having fun with friends, while the second one shows outdoor activity and exercise. Both activities have their advantages. For the first one, it’s easy and relaxing  — there’s no need to leave home, and it’s a great way to unwind with friends. But the downside is, it can be too sedentary, and it doesn’t give you much physical exercise.

On the other hand, riding bikes outdoors is a great way to stay active, enjoy nature, and socialize. It’s a healthy option, but it can also be tiring and depends on the weather, which might not always be ideal.

Personally, I prefer outdoor activities like biking because I love spending time in nature and staying active. Plus, I think it’s more enjoyable to be outside in the fresh air.

She is sitting at the table with a laptop and the background suggests that she is sitting in the kitchen and by the way she is dressed I can tell she's not in the office kitchen but at home. She looks concentrated so I suppose she is working. In the second picture there is a girl lying in the bed wearing large earphones and with a smartphone in her hand.

There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. Obviously, the first picture shows a woman who is using the Internet to earn money while the second one shows a girl who is using it for fun.

In my opinion, the two kinds gadgets shown in the pictures have their advantages and disadvantages. For instance, laptop has a large screen and it is more comfortable to use it for doing your job or watching films. While smartphone is light and you can take it everywhere with you.

As for me,I prefer using smartphone to have fun and laptop or computer to work. So pictures illustrate my opinion quite well.

По­яс­не­ние. Hey Kate! So, I found two photos for our "Photography" project, and I wanted to tell you about them. In the first photo, there is a girl posing for a photo and a middle-aged male photographer taking photos. It looks like a photo session at a professional photo studio. In the second photo, there is a girl taking selfie and the background is simply a wall so it can be taken anywhere.

The two photos show two different approaches to photography. The first one is professional, with expensive camera, lamps and screen while the second one is amateur photography which requires only a smartphone. Both approaches have advantages and disadvantages. The obvious advantage of professional photography is high-quality photos, sometimes even pieces of art, and definitely it is interesting to become a model at least for some time. While amateur photography is open for everybody and helps us to save important moments of our lives without any special efforts. On the other hand, professional photography requires expensive equipment and renting a studio which leads to the high price of professional photo sessions. Amateur photography also has some drawbacks. One of the most important are low-quality photos and lots of senseless photos which fill phone memory very fast.

To my mind, if you need a really good photo, it is better to save up money and order a professional photo session. Thus you can make sure the photo will be high-quality and you will get what you want.

I have found two nice pictures for our project. One of them shows a girl sitting at the sofa with her earphones on. The other one depicts a group of teen girls out for a bike ride. To my mind, these two pictures ideally illustrate two main ways to spend one's weekend. I mean, relaxing at home or having active weekend in the forest or somewhere else. Surely, it is pleasant to stay at home and do nothing after a busy week. On the other hand, when the weather is nice sitting at home is a bad idea, in our climate you cannot waste fine days. In this case it is better to go out. As for me, I like both ways of spending weekend, say, one weekend I relax and the other one I go hiking or riding a bike or travelling. I prefer diversity. What about you? As far as I know, you are a home-lover, aren't you? Anyway, just let me know what you think about these photos and if they are appropriate for our project.
