Imagine that you and your friend are doing a school project "Time to Choose a Career" together with your friend. You have found some illustrations and want to share the news. Leave a voice message to your friend. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
— explain the choice of the illustrations for the project by briefly describing them and noting the differences;
— mention the advantages (1–2) of choosing a career at a younger or older age;
— mention the disadvantages (1–2) of choosing a career at a younger or older age;
— express your opinion on the subject of the project — at what age you would prefer to choose your career and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (12–15 sentences). You have to talk continuously.
Hey, Kate. You know what? I’ve just found two pictures suitable for our project "Time to Choose a Career". Let me tell you a bit more about them.
These pictures are relevant to our project because there are people choosing careers. In the first photo there is a little girl. By the way she is dressed I can suppose that she’s playing doctor and treating her teddy bear. In the second picture there is a group of adults. They are sitting around the table and working with papers. I think they are studying or doing some tests to get a job. There are a few differences to illustrate our project better. Obviously, the first picture presents how little children show their interests in different career fields. However, the second one depicts grown-ups choosing or changing their jobs.
In my opinion, choosing a career at a younger age and at an older age have their advantages. For instance, when people think about what they want to be at a younger age, they have more time to get enough knowledge and skills. Meanwhile, choosing a career at an older ager usually is a more balanced choice. Of course, choosing a career at a younger age and at an older age have disadvantages too. For example, children are to immature to make such a serious choice, in general they do not understand the real situation. At the same time, a person choosing a career at an older age risks losing time while thinking.
As for me, I would prefer to choose my career at a younger age. I think the sooner the better. It can provide the opportunity to study necessary subjects and get useful experience.
So, shall we use these photos in our project? Call me when you’re ready to discuss if we can use them. Bye-bye.
