… This year we had an unusually hot summer. What’s the weather normally like in
summer in Russia? What do you think about spending summer holidays at home?
What is your favourite season, and why?
I’m reading a very interesting book about England in the 16th century …

Dear Molly,
Thanks for your letter. I'm sorry I couldn't answer you earlier, I had to prepare for an exam.
The hot summer must have been a painful experience. Here in St. Petersburg we have either cold and rainy or warm and sunny summers. They rarely mix. I am totally fine with spending the summer holidays at home since I mostly use it as a basecamp to venture out to find interesting places around the city and not far beyond. All that is made possible by the fact that summer mostly consists of free time for me, so that is why I like it the most of all seasons.
Anyway, you mentioned a book you were reading. What is its genre? How long is it? Who is its author?
I'm sorry, but I have to leave now, it's time for me to walk my dog.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Vitaliy
