38.1. Many people believe that living in a city is more comfortable than in the countryside. While doing a project on why some Zetlanders move to big cities, I have found a table containing some relevant data that I am going to comment on.
According to the data, there is quite a wide range of benefits of living in a city. It is clear that the majority of the respondents (34%) think about changing their place of residence because there are better opportunities for work. Moreover, a great number of people (27%) would like to develop their business. It is worth mentioning that various entertainment and events are significant for only 8% of the respondents.
Surprisingly, only 5% of the respondents think about making new friends in a city. It is five times less popular answer than getting a better education. To my mind, big cities provide better opportunities for students as a lot of universities and educational centres are situated there. At the same time, life in a big city is very fast and not everyone would like to talk to a stranger.
One problem that can arise with moving to a big city is that the air is polluted there. Thus, people living in a metropolis cannot breathe fresh air. One solution to this problem is to replace petroleum by clean fuels for vehicles and plant more trees.
In conclusion, I think that despite some problems associated with living in a big city, it is great place for living. Nowadays metropolises are changing towards the green environment. (258 words)
38.2. Nowadays studying is shifting towards doing creative works. While doing a project on what school project topics are popular among Zetland teenagers, I have found a pie chart containing some relevant data that I am going to comment on.
According to the data, the pupils in Zetland have quite a wide range of topics when it comes to doing a school project. Obviously, the most popular of them are environmental issues, 32% of the respondents have chosen them. Also, 25% of the teenagers have named culture and arts as their school project’s spheres. Moreover, social issues are interested for 19% of the respondents.
It is worth mentioning that political issues are twice as popular as must-read book as topics for school projects. To my mind, the main reason is that teenagers read very little anymore. At the same time, adolescents become interested in politics in order to seem grown up.
Statistics reveal one problem connected with doing a school project, none of the respondents have mentioned IT as their project’s investigation field. Lack of interest to learning about the fastest developing industry may become a great problem in the future. One solution to it is to manage meetings with programmers in order to encourage students to study IT and explain them all the opportunities that this science can give them.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that school projects are very important for pupils in Zetland. I think creative and group work can help students develop various skills. (247 words)
