And I decided that rather than taking out a student loan and paying it back for the rest of my life, I would find a good job while I still live with my parents and don’t have to pay rent, and save enough money to go to college.
Jacob: What job did you find?
Dianne: You’ll laugh! I’m a mechanic at the airport.
Jacob: Laugh? That’s amazing! Didn’t you take an auto mechanic class at school?
Dianne: I did! So, I thought, how different can the basics of being an auto mechanic be from being a plane mechanic? Why not apply? And they accepted me! So, I’m getting hands-on experience in what I’m hoping to study at university. I think this will help me a lot, plus, it will look good on my resume later, when I graduate.
Jacob: Dianne, you are so smart! That’s fantastic!
Dianne: But tell me more about yourself! Are you majoring in IT, as you were planning?
Jacob: Yes, I am! I really like it.
Dianne: What about your passion for music? Do you still play the piano?
Jacob: Of course! There are very cool practice rooms meant for music majors, but anyone can use them when they are free.
Dianne: Practice rooms with pianos?
Jacob: Yes, they're tiny rooms, just big enough for a small piano and a chair, but they have excellent sound insulation, so you can't hear anything from the other rooms. I've made some friends among the music majors, and we often play together at informal concerts and events.
Dianne: Sounds like you are having a great time at college!
Jacob: I am!
