Winston: Hi, can I help you?

Patricia: Yes, please! I'm looking for a textbook called Chemistry by Richard Grant that is required for Professor Carroll's 110 Chemistry class.

Winston: Oh, I know exactly where to find it! You are not the first one looking for it today!

Patricia: I'm sure I'm not. We had the first class yesterday.

Winston: Here you are. On this upper shelf you can find all the new books. They are a bit pricey, I'm afraid. And here below them are the used ones.

Patricia: I would probably buy the used one. How much are they?

Winston: The used ones are from 50 to a hundred dollars, depending on their condition. The new ones are 300 dollars each. But you can bring them back at the end of the semester and our bookstore will buy them from you.

Patricia: Three hundred dollars! No, I can't afford that. Besides, I understand it's a really good textbook with a lot of reference material that will come in handy later as well, if you are a chemistry major. So, I wouldn't want to get rid of it at the end of the course.

Winston: You are a chemistry major! I thought your face looked really familiar. I think we live in the same dorm. I'm Winston. I'm majoring in physics.

Patricia: Nice to meet you, Winston. I'm Patricia. I also seem to recognise you. Isn't it you who makes bacon and eggs in the 2-nd floor kitchen every morning?

Winston: Yes, it is! Do you like bacon and eggs?

Patricia: I do like eggs, but to be honest - I don't really like the smell of bacon.

Winston: Who doesn't like the smell of bacon?! Especially in the morning?

Patricia: Sorry. Hey, look at this book! Is it the same Chemistry textbook that I need? It doesn't have a cover.

Winston: Actually, it is. And it is in pretty good condition, all the pages are in place. It's just the hard cover that's missing. And it costs … let me see … only forty bucks! Cheaper than the other used books!

Patricia: Forty dollars! Oh, I'll buy it. I know how to make a new hard cover for a book. I took a book-binding elective in high school, and I love doing it.

Winston: There you go, then! Let's go to the register and I will sell it to you.

Patricia: Thank you! So, how do you like working in the university bookstore? I was also thinking of getting a job on campus. But I haven't chosen anything yet.

Winston: I like it! It is possible to have a flexible schedule, and they pay pretty well. So, if you like talking to people and helping them find books, it's quite rewarding. I'm a big extravert, myself! I love to be among people!

Patricia: Cool! I'll think about it. So, here's the money.

Winston: And here's your receipt and your book. Do you need a bag for it?

Patricia: No, I'll just put it in my backpack. Thank you!

Winston: And thank you for shopping here! I guess, I'll see you in the dorm kitchen! Bye, Patricia!

Patricia: Yeah, see you, Winston!
