Task 4. Imagine that you are doing a project "Very Different Sports" together with your friend. You have found some illustrations and want to share the news. Leave a voice message to your friend. In 2.5 minutes be ready to:
— give a brief description of the photos, justifying the choice of the photos for the project;
— say in what way the pictures are different, justifying the choice of the photos for the project;
— mention the advantages and disadvantages (1–2) of the two types of these sports;
— express your opinion on the subject of the project — whether you would like to take up a violent or an intellectual sport and why.
You will speak for not more than 3 minutes (2−3 sentences for every item of the plan, 12−15 sentences total). You have to talk continuously.
Hello Nick! I have found two pictures for our project "Very Different Sports", and I want to tell you about them.
The first picture shows two teenagers playing chess at the table. In the second picture there are two guys boxing in the gym. I am sure these photos would be perfect for our project because both of them show people doing very different sports.
There are some differences between the photos. The most striking one is that in the first picture the adolescents are sitting calmly and thinking moves, whereas the sportsmen in the second picture are really active and violent trying to punch each other with their gloved fists. In my opinion, these pictures would be ideal for our project because they prove that sports can be done differently.
These two types of sports have their advantages and disadvantages. When playing chess, you develop your mind, but the game might take hours. The advantage of boxing is that it helps you keep fit, but at the same it is a dangerous sport and you can get seriously injured.
Personally, I would take up an intellectual sport because I am not into violence or fighting. Besides, I would definitely not like to be traumatized.
That's all for now. Let me know what you think.
