Speaker A. I truly admire people who can stick to a diet. I know I'm not one of them. I've tried many times and for different reasons. A couple of times it was to support my friends who were doing it. Another couple of times I thought it would do me good to lose some weight. But it never worked. I just don't have enough willpower to stick to the diet long enough, whatever the diet may be. I can last a week if I'm lucky, but then I just give up. So, I've stopped even trying.
Speaker B. There are so many different diets nowadays! Keto, Paleo, Atkins, Alkaline - you name it! And people seem to be quite obsessed with them. Every time I check my social media, I see something new - a new diet with a new exotic name. I have a feeling it's not even so much for the good that they bring that people follow them, but because they are cool, something that all the other cool people around them are doing. And of course, there's so much advertising of them! You can't avoid it!
Speaker C. I was quite taken aback when my daughter told me she was going to become vegan. I'd never thought of anything like that before. I do respect her choice and everything, but I really have no clue how to change my old cooking habits. I've loved cooking all my life! I take pride in it. And dairy products, as well as meat, is something I've always been using and considered good for you. I guess, I will have to research some new recipes. But I know it's not going to be easy!

I'm so glad that nowadays it's so easy to follow practically any diet you want, especially if you live in a city with big supermarkets that offer a big variety of foods for restrictive diets like almond or oat milk, tofu, gluten-free cookies, sugarfree soft drinks - anything! Many people these days have allergies and other medical conditions where they cannot eat a particular kind of food, and I'm glad that they can still find something they can eat.
Speaker E. In my opinion, unless people have a specific medical condition like diabetes or gluten intolerance, the diet should be well-balanced and include a little bit of everything. Protein, fat and carbs as well as all sorts of vitamins and minerals are all important for our bodies. If the diet is well-balanced on a daily basis, you can even allow yourself some fast food now and then. The rule of thumb is not to overeat and to exercise regularly - but again, in moderation!
Speaker F. I've downloaded this cool app which breaks down for you what you actually eat - how many calories you have just consumed, how much vitamins or minerals. All you need to do is type in what kind of food you've eaten and its weight. This is quite exciting. For example, everyone knows that dairy products are important because they contain calcium that we all need for healthy teeth and bones, but now I know exactly if my cup of milk had enough calcium for the day or not!
