Расшифровка записиMartin: Hi, Denise! Long time no see!
Denise: Oh, Martin, hi! Good to see you back on campus again! How are you? How was your summer?
Martin: Not too bad. I had the whole month of June to have fun and visit my grandparents who live in Florida.
Denise: Oh, nice! Do they live on the seashore?
Martin: Yes they do! Visiting them has been the highlight of my summers since I was a kid. That’s where I learnt to swim, to dive and to surf.
Denise: No kidding! You are a surfer?
Martin: Yes I am.
Denise: This is so cool! I only had 2 weeks to really relax.
Martin: Why is that?
Denise: I had to work. I applied for an internship and got accepted by a really good publishing company.
Martin: A publishing company! That’s right, you want to work in book publishing when you graduate, right?
Denise: Well, this is my dream. I’m not sure if it’ll come true, though.
Martin: So what was your internship? What did you do?
Denise: All sorts of things — which was actually good, because I learnt so much about how a publishing house works. In the 3 months that I worked there, I had the chance to take a look at different departments and how a book is prepared for publishing.
Martin: Did they pay you? Did you have a proper salary?
Denise: Yes, it was a paid internship. Good companies do pay their interns these days, you know. It’s considered the right thing to do.
Martin: You bet it’s the right thing to do! Getting experience is great, of course, but slaving away all summer for just experience doesn’t sound that good.
Denise: It’s not like my salary was huge, but good enough. So I’m very happy.
What about you? Didn’t you get an internship?
Martin: I tried. But I guess I applied too late and wasn’t accepted anywhere. So I just helped my dad in his company.
Denise: What does he do?
Martin: He’s in real estate. He buys and sells houses.
Denise: But aren’t you majoring in business administration? This kind of work was a sort of internship for you.
Martin: Yeah, I guess it was. It just wasn’t that exciting — working for my dad.
I’ve done that before. I wanted something new, you know.
Denise: Well, maybe next year you’ll have more luck.
Martin: I hope so.
Denise: Well, it was good seeing you! I guess, I’ll see you around. I need to run to class now.
Martin: Sure! Bye!
