По­яс­не­ние. 40.1. Energy is essential for almost every activity in the modern world. From industrial production to charging one’s phone, electricity has to be available for a modern country to exist. My project, which I am still working on, is aimed at finding out the sources of energy used in Russia. I have found some data on this issue and organised it in the table below.

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the chart. The first one is that natural gas is by far the most prevalent source of energy, making up for 53% of production. The second one is that nuclear and renewable energy are the least used ways of getting electricity.

It is also worth mentioning that coal accounts for only 3% more energy production than nuclear and renewable.

In my opinion, the statistics in the table reveal an important problem. Russia is heavily reliant on fossil fuels to generate its electricity, which is both unsustainable and harmful to nature. To solve this problem, the government should encourage companies to produce cleaner energy and use either renewable or nuclear as their primary source of power.

In conclusion, I believe that ecologically friendly ways of generating electricity that can work long-⁠term should replace fossil fuels in the near future.

40.2. The area of a country is essential for its development, from having available space for agriculture to the construction of industries. My project, which I am still working on, is aimed at finding out the area of various countries. I have found some data on this issue and organized it in the chart below.

I can identify two main features of the statistics presented in the chart below. The first one is that the country with the highest area in square kilometers is Russia. The second one is that the country with the lowest area in square kilometer is Brazil

It is also worth mentioning that China, the USA and Canada have around the same area with approximately 10000000 square kilometers.

In my opinion, the statistics in the table reveal an important problem. Great part of the land surface of the earth is centered mainly around four countries. I think that in order to solve this problem the governments of these countries should allow their territory to be used by nearby countries.

In conclusion, I believe that the promotion of a shared territory by those countries that have a greater area than those with a smaller area should lead to a useful collaboration for both countries.
